There's a cool post over on the Spline Doctors' Blog about polishing up a shot - taking it from the blocking stage on to that giddy nirvana that is Final.

i'm ready for my test. i've found that most of this stuff is just the stuff that comes to your mind and you think to yourself "i'll get to that later, but it'll take FOR-E-VER!"
i like to think of "good polish" as stuff that you would love to get to but don't have time. taking the time to do so will set you apart from the pack. and believe me, there's a pack.
